There are six different essay prompts. Each presents a dilemma involving architectural heritage stewardship for which there is no easy or obvious answer. In each case the written assignment is not intended to produce a formal, academic response but rather calls for a different type of writing, such as a letter-to-the-editor or personal statement or policy guideline. Students are encouraged to post preliminary responses during the term as they untangle issues stemming from these thorny prompts. Written responses in a final form are due by the end of the program. Each student should respond to any two of the prompts.
